CEAOPS
TCOMS’s Centre of Excellence for Autonomous & remotely OPerated vessels (CEAOPS) is the national focal point for research and development in Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS). It drives research and technology innovation required for the safe and efficient operations of autonomous and remotely operated vessels, as well as vessels equipped with smart maritime systems and solutions, in complex operating environments.
CEAOPS advances research that enables MASS development such as the sensing and prediction of waves to enable safe and efficient navigation in open seas, more accurate prediction of vessel voyage performance and dynamic assessment of vessel structural health.
International Collaboration
CEAOPS is proud to collaborate with our counterpart in Norway, SINTEF Ocean, on a Roadmap towards Smart and Autonomous Maritime Transport Systems. We seek to identify the most important research challenges towards smart and autonomous ships and ports. We hope that this R&D Road-map can help to spur greater conversations amongst our fellow public research organisations and industry partners on the future of MASS and smart maritime operations. The realisation of such capabilities will help us better manage the uncertainties and risks of a post pandemic world by helping to keep the lifeblood of the global economy, maritime trade, going.
